Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

The story follows 16 year old cancer patient, Hazel. Hazel barely leaves the house instead preferring to stay at home to read her favorurite book An Imperial Affliction over and over again. Apart from for basic schooling and reluctantly attending the Cancer Kid Support Group. It is however, at the Support Group she meets the gorgeously handsome Augustus (Gus).
Hazel’s wish is to find out the ending of  An Imperial Affliction (the book that never ends) and the fate of the characters in the book. This leads Hazel and Gus embark on an adventure to Amsterdam to meet the author Peter Van Houten. The question which remains however, is whether they ever get the ending they expected?
This is a truly beautiful and inspiring story. You will need tissues to hand, without doing any kind of spoiler.
I just wish I hadn’t bought the version of the book with the characters from the film on the front. There is also some pictures from the film in the middle section of the book too. This detracted from me imagining the characters for myself. As I purposefully have resisted watching the film until I have finished the book.
Have you read the book? What did you think?
Have you read any great books lately? Any suggestions for similar books?
