I don’t know about you, but I start to feel really stressed and out of control when I don’t have things organised. One of the things I find that helps me to control my stress levels, is by trying to stay on top of things. I can easily end up in chaos, so I find that having things as a routine really helps.
One of my goals for the new year was to get organised and feel more in control of my life and one of the things that’s really helped is creating a Sunday GYST routine. We all have our plates to spin don’t we? I work, I am also doing my Masters Degree, trying to keep up with the blog and at some point find time for Dan and my favourite peeps. So, Sunday is one of my favourite days for getting things organised. It’s like forgetting all that went wrong last week and starting afresh next week.
What can you implement this week to create your perfect Sunday GYST Routine?
Create a self-care routine.
Build in relaxing time. I like to do a hair or face mask or something ‘different’ than my usual rushed daily shower.
Get out for a walk. We live right next to a park, so no excuses just to take a walk, grab a coffee and get the steps up.
We like to save up our TV and binge watch it Sunday evening.
Get that Spring cleaning vibe going. Pop some music on, clean, tidy, organise and take the bins out.
Change the bed. What better way to start off the week than clean sheet?
Get the bulk of the washing done so that you don’t have to come home and to it.
This is great as it saves time, we eat better and hopefully long term it will start saving us money. We have now started writing on the calendar so we both know where we are, which again helps with meal planning and prep. We make a list of anything we need, then we do an online food shop order every few weeks.
We have been doing really well with batch cooking this year. Every week we have been making a few dishes, having some and freezing the rest into individual portions. Another win is whilst your batch cooking, you could easily make some extra for the weeks lunches.
Other GYST essentials.
This for me includes:
Charge Fitbit. I used to get to about Wednesday and it would die, now I schedule to charge it!
Pack bag properly. Empty all the rubbish, clean your bag out and then put back only the essentials you need that day/week.
Have a ‘to-do’ list for the next week. Even if it’s only in a loose note form for the week. I’ve been using the TeuxDeux app (not sponsored) I just like how you can divide everything into different categories.
I always do a bit of blog admin, like reply to comments, have Tweets scheduled and Pinned my latests blog post.
Get clothes out ready for next day. Even better have a week of outfits all planned out (I love watching The Anna Edit for her wardrobe organisation inspiration).
What’s your ideal GYST routine?
Lots of love,
