technically speaking I know that minced beef makes Cottage Pie and minced
lamb makes Shepherds Pie, but I always have to be different and I’m using Quorn
pop grated cheese over the mash, but I’ve been eating way too much
cheese this week!
You will need:
Half a tin of chopped tomatoes
Generous splash of red wine
Squirt of tomato puree
Milk (for mashing the mashed potatoes)
Knob of butter (for the mashed potatoes)
Salt and black pepper for seasoning
Cheese to top before putting under the grill (if you prefer it cheesy)
2. After about 15 minutes of the mince cooking. Cook the potatoes in a little salt for 10 minutes, or until tender. Once tender, drain the potatoes. Then mash together with a knob of butter, a splash of milk and season with cracked black pepper.
4. Spoon the mince mixture into an ovenproof dish and layer on the mashed potato.
5. Pop under the grill for around 5-10 minutes, or until the mash is browned.
