July Birch Box Review

Ok, so don’t fall off your seat, but I have never tried Birchbox before. I used to be a fan of Glossy Box, but for me personally, it didn’t seem worth the money when they started charging P&P. I love the idea of monthly boxes though as you get to try some great products you might not otherwise buy and it’s like a lovely little present each month ๐Ÿ™‚ So, I am going to start trying out a few different boxes, starting with Birchbox.

Birchbox is ยฃ10 monthly plus ยฃ2.95 P&P, but there was an offer for new subscribers to get free P&P, so that swayed me to try it. This months box is themed Sun, Sea and Sand. So, very apt for the July holiday period.
I like the fact that you know what is in the box, but your box only contains 4 to 5 products from the list. My box contains:
Compagnie De Provence Hand Cream 30ml – This is not as thick as the hand creams I would usually go for, as I get really dry skin on my hands (I use way too much hand sanitiser!). It does leave hands feeeling soft though and it has a summery, almost sun cream smell to it. At 30ml it is perfect handbag sized.
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream 7ml – I only used this for the first time today, so I usually like to reserve judgement about eye creams until after I have used them for a few weeks. So, I will do a product empties post on this at some point in the near future. It smells nice and has a nice texture.
Laqa & Co Lip Lube in Bees Knees – I love chunky chubby sticks as you can line lips or just put it on like lipstick. It is a lovely sheer summer colour. Looks great with a tan ladies ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t quite put my finger on the smell, it is almost a minty fresh kind of smell – great whatever it is!
Benefit The Porefessional Pro Balm Primer 7.5ml – I have used this before and it is a great primer, especially if you have enlarged pores, which I do. I like the fact it isn’t oily. It smooths any open pores and helps skin to look radiant and flawless.
Soigne Nail Lacquer in the shade Cerise (colours varied) – I love the colour and I was really impressed it didn’t look much different than it did in the bottle. Lovely high gloss finish. I applied two coats. I only applied it today though, so I can’t comment on it’s lasting power.
The Chia Co Shot 8g – I like that Birchbox do a lifestyle extra in the box, so it isn’t just beauty products we get to review. Chia is the highest combined source of Omega 3, ALA, fibre and protein. Although, this is only one sachet, you just add a tablespoon to yoghurt/cereal or a sprinkle to a salad. I haven’t tried this yet, but I have heard great things about Chia, so I am looking forward to trying this.
Postcard-style Magazine – containing lots of Editor’s tips and tricks. On the back there are lots of inspirational messages, which I thought was a really cute idea.
I love the little drawstring bag it comes it too – not sure what I can use it for though (I am such a hoarder).
I’m still undecided on whether to subscribe to Birchbox, or
not. I think the concept is amazing, and a great opportunity to try out new, or
different products, but there are a couple of other boxes I am going to try out
before I commit.
What do you think of Birchbox? Have you subscribed or are
you thinking about it? Let me know your thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚
Helen xoxo
