Happy 2019! I love the start of the New Year. It’s like, new year, new start. Initially, I sat down with my bullet journal to write my Goals for 2019, but I thought why not go further? Why not set goals to live our best life in 2019.
Love yourself for who you are.
We can be our own worst enemy, can’t we?. If you feel unworthy and insecure, you will continuously be doubting yourself and your abilities. What if you are actually good enough? In trying to adopt that mindset, you will be giving yourself a break. Embracing and accepting yourself is an important step on the road to self-confidence. Anxiety and lack of confidence often get the better of me, so this is something I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on. I definitely want to continue my self-development journey in 2019.
Ditch the people who don’t deserve to be part of your life.
I spent years trying to please others. Trying not to rock the boat. Doing things just to “fit in”. On reflection, the people I was trying to please didn’t deserve that effort. If people don’t want the real you, then they can jog on. This is your life, and those who really do love and care about you will be excited to join you in living your best life.
Surround yourself with special people.
This year, I really want to make more of an effort to make time for the special people in my life. I’ve spent the last few months juggling work, study and blogging. Time goes by so fast, and it’s easy not to make people feel they are important to you. Especially, if you’re someone like me who struggles to show their feelings.
Create a wishlist of all things you want to achieve.
For me personally, this is to travel more. There is a massive big wide world out there and I’ve hardly seen any of it. Earlier this year I decided to create a travel section in my bullet journal. I made a list of all the places I’ve visited and then a list of all the places we want to visit. I don’t know about you, but writing it down, really focuses my attention. Watch out 2019!
Stop overthinking and just do it.
This is the biggest one for me now. I am an expert in procrastination. I will spend hours dithering over something. It annoys Dan so much. The truth is we will never “be ready”. We will never have all the tools or the knowledge. We just have to go with it and trust our instincts. If it goes wrong, then it is better to have taken a chance, rather than regret not having done something.
Find what inspires you.
If you lose excitement or motivation, don’t beat yourself up. Find the things that spark and re-ignite that passion, inspiration. What things trigger your motivation? Make a list of the books that inspire you. A list of inspiring podcasts you want to listen to. Create an upbeat playlist on Spotify. This is something I’m going to be focusing on over the next few weeks.
Even if you don’t know what you want to do. That doesn’t matter. Just try out what you’re passionate about. It can lead on to bigger things. You can start down one path and completely change direction. Or find what you were meant to find. Just get out of your comfort zone and go explore. Even if it’s from the comfort of your own sofa.

A bit deep, but you only have one life. Time to start living it.
