Time For A Little Pampering

You know that feeling when you just fancy a bit of
pampering? Then I spotted a Wowcher deal for a Clarins Pampering Package at House
of Frazer in Manchester for the bargenous price of £8. Well, rude
not to at that price, right? 🙂

Sorry a wee bit of a stern-faced selfie! Got a bit self-conscious on the streets on Manchester x

The £8 session* included a mini facial, summer makeover and a goodie bag
(I can’t lie, it was the goodie back which swung it). The experience
itself was so relaxed and I loved discussing some new ideas for makeup.

My assistant was called Emily and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. I liked how she talked me through every step and told me everything she was using.

I have oily/combined skin. So, I really hate products that add to the oil, but I like to feel like I’m looking after and replenishing the moisture in my skin. Especially, as it is summertime and I have spent a bit of time in the sun lately (obviously, only with factor 30 on, or I would look like a lobster!).

I asked Emily to pick the makeup look, as I feel I need a bit of inspiration at the moment. She used a brown/nude eye shadow and I would never go for brown! It is such a nice natural look. Most of all, I am really so impressed by the mascara. I feel like I’m cheating on my beloved Maybelline (The Falsies), but I think I might be loving Clarins more!

I have been trying to grow out my eyebrows (sorry they look so tatty – is anyone else at that stage?), So I liked her tips about applying brow liner and using the brow brush. Total novice territory here!

So a quick round up of what was used on my face…

Facial products used:

Water Purify One-Step Cleanser
Gentle Exfoliating Brightening Toner
Pore Minimizin Serum
HydraQuench Cream-Mask

HydraQuench Tinted Moisturiser in the shade 01

Bronzer – applied to the forehead, cheeks and nose
Instant Definition Mascara
Instant Light Brush On Perfector on the undereye area.
Eye Quartet Mineral Palette – in the shade 02 Nudes
Eyebrow Pencil – in the shade 02 Light Brown
Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector – in shade Rose Shimmer
Finished with a spritz of Fix’ Make-Up

In the goodie bag (tailored to skin type):

Double Serum Age Control Concentrate – tiny sample
Pure and Radiant Mask – 5ml
Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream – 5ml
Hydra-Matte Lotion – 5ml
Instant Definition Mascara – mini sample
Makeup bag
Basil seeds. Now, the geek in me loves this! I can’t wait to grow the seeds and desperately try not to kill them!

The experience itself was great fun. Overall, though I think this was maybe a bit overpriced for £8 as many department stores/chains will do makeovers for free and you can ask Clarins for sample products for free.

*I paid for the experience out of my own money and I was not paid to review the deal.

Anyone else tried one of these packages?
Or any recommendations for similar packages?

Helen xoxo

I would say it is ok value because they wouldn't give out mascara's or make-up bags for free, though what do I know. I did think after i'd seen the first few pictures that you got loads in the goodie bag but then realised they were the products she used on you lol. I've never had my make-up done on a counter, i'm too scared!

I was swayed by the goodie bag, so I was bit disappointed it was only the tiny samples I could have asked for, but the makeup bag is a nice size and I know I will definitely use it. I am exactly the same with the counters and will only go if it's an advertised event or something. I do love discussing new makeup ideas though, so it's catch 22! 🙂 xx
